Questions

ADP FAQ

What is the Advanced Development Program?

ADP is NXT SC's pre-travel program — the bridge between recreational soccer and travel soccer. It gives rising U7 and U8 players a higher-touch, professionally guided environment before they reach travel age.

Who is ADP for?

Rising U7 and U8 players with birth years 8/1/2018 through 7/31/2020 who are ready for more than rec but are not yet at travel age. ADP is U7-U8 pre-travel only.

How are players evaluated?

Players are evaluated on technical ability with the ball, speed, and character — how they compete, listen, and treat teammates. The goal is the right environment for each player, not cutting anyone from the game.

What does practice look like?

Training runs Monday and Friday. On Mondays U7 trains 5:30-6:30pm and U8 trains 6:30-7:30pm; on Fridays both groups train together 6:00-7:15pm. Sessions are touch-heavy and built around the travel curriculum.

Who do ADP teams play?

Saturday-morning matches are played 4v4 to maximize touches. Teams play intrasquad games, matches against older Dynamo SC recreational teams, and other Richmond-metro clubs — all with minimal local travel.

How does the curriculum connect to travel soccer?

ADP mirrors the NXT SC travel team curriculum so the jump to travel feels familiar. Players also earn guest-play opportunities in travel matches when appropriate.

How is coaching structured?

All sessions are overseen by professional coaches, with volunteer coaches working alongside the pro staff. A professional coach is present at every match to support the volunteer coaches, players, and referees.

What is the time commitment?

Two weekday training sessions (Monday and Friday) plus Saturday-morning matches through the season. The Fall season runs from Aug 31 to Oct 24, 2026.

How is ADP different from rec and travel?

Recreational soccer is the entry rung and is volunteer-led. Travel soccer is the competitive rung for older players. ADP sits in between: pre-travel, professionally guided, and built specifically for rising U7 and U8 players.

What does the $300 fee cover?

The $300 covers one season of ADP — Monday and Friday training, Saturday matches, the professional coaching model, and the End-of-Season Scrimmagefest. Fall and Spring are priced separately at $300 each. For questions, email contact@nxtsc.com.
